What is happening across England
We know that outcomes are worse for women, birthing people and their babies from minority ethnic backgrounds and the most deprived areas.
It is also true that there is an increase of people from minority ethnic backgrouds living in deprived areas, increasing the risk of problems at birth and infant deaths.*
NHS research shows us that different populations have different needs and risks which means we cannot have a one size fits all approach – we need to tailor our approach for different groups.
